Crimson was founded by Glenn with a straightforward idea: homeowners should not have to manage the disconnect between an architect and a contractor.

That idea still shapes how the company works today.

Glenn and the Crimson team bring architecture, design, and construction together so decisions can be made with the entrie pre-project in mind. The result is a more connected experience for the homeowner and a better working relationship between the people designing and building the home.

Glenn founded Crimson Design & Construction in 2000 after seeing an opportunity to bring architectural thinking and construction experience together under one company. His approach has always centered on thoughtful design, quality construction, and giving homeowners a team they can rely on throughout the project.

Today, that same philosophy continues to guide Crimson's work on custom homes, full-home renovations, additions, kitchens, bathrooms, basements, and exterior renovations throughout Chicagoland.

Glenn

VISION. EXPERIENCE. A HIGHER STANDARD.

Glenn founded Crimson in 2000 with the goal of bringing architecture and construction together. He saw a gap between the design of a home and the work required to build it, and believed a more connected approach could lead to better homes and a better experience for homeowners.

With a background in architecture and construction, Glenn has spent his career working on custom homes, major renovations, additions, and complex residential projects throughout the Chicagoland area.

Angel Hernandez

LEADERSHIP ON SITE AND BEYOND.

Joining Crimson in 2023, Angel quickly became indispensable with his leadership, work ethic, and positive attitude. With a background in landscaping, restoration, and carpentry, he brings hands-on experience and problem-solving skills that are invaluable.

In his free time, Angel enjoys philosophy, science, advancing his education, and spending time with his family.

Chuck Trefz

BUILT ON EXPERIENCE. DRIVEN BY CARE.

With an honors degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois and an MBA from DePaul, Chuck brings extensive experience in commercial and residential construction. A Crimson veteran, he is committed to quality and enjoys hiking, biking, and raising awareness for multiple sclerosis.

Designing homes since 1982 and a Crimson team member since 2020, Heidi excels in personalized design solutions. With specialized certificates and competition accolades, she enhances client visions while addressing design challenges.

Passionate about creative arts, she values reading, traveling, and live theatre with her husband.

Alexander Gallegos

Joining Crimson in 2022, Alex brings 25 years of experience in project management, combining customer vision with construction integrity. With a background in Japanese joinery, he values transparency and professionalism.

Outside work, he enjoys golf and Harley rides, envisioning adventures in Colorado.

A major home project should not feel like a series of handoffs, guesses, and surprises. Crimson brings architecture, interior design, documentation, permitting, and construction together under one team, giving you a clear path from the first conversation to the finished home.

01 DISCOVER

We start by looking at what is actually there and understanding what you want the home to become. We visit the property, study the existing conditions, talk through how you live, and discuss the scope, budget, timing, and requirements that will shape the project.

02 DESIGN

Your project takes shape through architecture, interior design, 3D modeling, and detailed planning. We develop the design around how you want the home to function while keeping construction, budget, and local requirements in the conversation.

03 RESOLVE

Before we move into construction, we work through the details that can create uncertainty later. Selections are made, construction documents are completed, engineering and permitting are coordinated, and the project is priced around the decisions you have actually made.

04 BUILD

Once construction begins, our design and construction teams remain connected. We coordinate the work, manage the schedule, communicate progress, and keep you informed about what is happening and what comes next. When the work is complete, we walk the project with you, address the final details, complete closeout, and make sure you have what you need moving forward.

From the beginning, we were impressed by Glenn’s architectural background and his ability to truly listen.
